ARTIVISMOS: activism as an act of denunciation
Educational resource
General public
We will be inspired by the creations of Equipo Crónica and other examples of artists and movements that have used art as a form of resistance, and we will make a collective creation that reminds us that we are active cultural agents for social transformation.
Art is a powerful means of expression that goes beyond the work. Art can be a transformative tool, with the ability to challenge established norms, provoke critical thinking and, above all, inspire social change. In this dialogue visit we will explore the social and political potential of art through the works and artistic proposal that Equipo Crónica makes.
Equipo Crónica was a very influential and prominent Spanish artistic collective during the 1960s and 1970s. Their work was characterized by a unique style that combined elements of pop art and references to art history with a desire for social and political criticism, addressing themes such as the Franco dictatorship, consumerism, mass culture and the relationship between art and power.
Could we take this exercise to the present? What could we denounce as a collective? How could we use art to make this complaint?
