MORTALS +

MORTALS +

Our wish is to build a kaleidoscope of diverse experiences and visions, to explore our relationship with AIDS today and to search for the material and immaterial legacies that have permeated the more than forty years since the outbreak of the pandemic, through the activation of an artistic research group between people living with HIV and clinical researchers of this virus, in order to work together on the evolution of the social perception of the pandemic from the 1980s to the present day, the role of the patient in advancing access to treatment, understanding the processes that make it possible to carry out clinical trials of this disease, in order to tackle, above all, the social factors that determine good adherence to treatment and how to deal with early ageing and the risks of comorbidity that this disease entails.

This research will also draw on a selection of works from the Suñol Soler Collection that, due to their subject matter, context or chronology, can contribute to the recovery of the non-material legacy associated with the collective imaginary surrounding the disease.

MORTALS is a participatory project of collective research and creation, the result of the collaboration between the artist Albert Potrony, born in Barcelona but who has developed, since the 90s in London, a career in artistic projects from the audiovisual language, installation, experimentation on participatory processes, play and co-production, and Roser Sanjuan, cultural manager and artistic mediator specialising in participatory and social art.

This project is supported by a grant for community culture and social transformation projects 2023-2025 from the Generalitat de Catalunya as well as the support of the Glòria Soler Foundation.
