Photographs from the Martin Z. Margulies Collection The Dwelling of Man
23.02.2012 - 16.06.2012
The Dwelling Life of Man. Photographs from the Martin Z. Margulies Collection, curated by Régis Durand, is simultaneously presented at Fundación Foto Colectania and at Fundació Suñol. The exhibition explores the question on how we inhabit the world and includes more than 165 photographs and videos by 50 artists.
For over 30 years Martin Z. Margulies has been compiling one of the most important art collections, which includes painting, sculpture, video and photography. The Dwelling Life of Man explores the way man lives in the world, appropriates it, changes it and finally leaves his/her mark on the reality of emotions, life, work or nature.
It includes some of the most important names in international photography, such as like Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, Lee Friedlander, Ed Ruscha, Stephen Shore, William Eggleston, Helen Levitt, Andreas Gursky and Roni Horn. The extent and uniqueness of the exhibition made possible that, for the first time, the show is presented simultaneously in the Foto Colectania Foundation and in the Fundació Suñol.
