The Fundación Han Nefkens and the Fundació Suñol are pleased to jointly present an exhibition by French-Iranian artist Arash Nassiri (Teheran, 1986), to be held at the Nivell Zero of the Fundació Suñol as part of the Festival LOOP 2016. The exhibition includes various works using techniques from the entertainment business, featuring the play of light and special effects.
The exhibition features three works. First, the video Tehran-geles (2014) is a fictional view of Teheran, filmed within the urban landscape of Los Angeles. Along with the video there is a three-screen installation showing the reflection of neon lights on buildings, using old holographic techniques from cinema. Finally, on the exterior, there are three LED panels with animated images of fireworks and light shows, recreating now-obsolete animation from advertising.
Born in 1986 in Tehran, Arash Nassiri works and lives in Paris. He graduated from the National School of Arts (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts-Décoratifs de Paris) in 2012, he also graduated from Le Fresnoy, National Studio of Contemporary Arts in 2014. During his curriculum he also followed the National School of Fine Arts (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris) in 2007 and the University of the Arts of Berlin where he lived in 2010.
He showcased his work in France and abroad during various exhibitions, at the Biennale de Lyon in 2015, the Panorama exhibitions in 2013 and 2014, the biennale of architecture of Venize, in the exhibition “From the object to the city” organized by the National School of Arts in 2010. In July 2014 his work has been featured in the cultural magazine Les Inrockuptibles.
Arash Nassiri also benefitted from prizes like the Grand Prize of video art of Cote Court Pantin 2014 and the Prize Studio Collector.
His work Tehran-Geles (2014), coproduced by the Han Nefkens Foundation, wil be showcased during the Loop Festival (24.05 – 04.06) at the Nivell Zero (Fundació Suñol). Aso, during july he will be running a workshop at Escola Massana, promoted by the HNF.
