Act 15: Àngel Jové vs Limbus
11.03.2010 - 08.05.2010
The Act 15: Àngel Jové, vs Limbus is an ensemble of over thirty drawings on paper and Verdú black ceramic that together make up a single work of art that lead us towards an infinite idea of imaginary landscapes that dissolve and break up into a vision of emptiness and absence.
vs Limbus (Versus Limbus, 2009) is a series of over three hundred and fifty small works (DinA4), from which we can see a selection in this exhibition. With this work, Àngel Jové continues a cycle of major series: Altra volta mossego un tros de pa. Cristòfol Pavese (2007), El camí de Fet i del seu pare (2008) and Efemèride (2008), that use recurrence and repetition to show the endurance of a work of art as an archive document and the immense presence of memory.
Àngel Jové (Lleida, 1940) is one of the historic representatives of the beginnings of conceptual art in Catalonia. His work has always featured metaphysical, reflective references based on memory and image. His work spans numerous fields of experimentation and brings together abstract and figurative art. Using work based on manipulated photographic images, he has worked in various areas of artistic expression (sculpture, photomontage, installations), accentuating his concept of the representation of emptiness, melancholy and the schism between nature and culture.
