José Luis Alexanco. Ejercicio temporal
Sala Alcalá 31 presents the exhibition “Ejercicio temporal” [1964-2020], a journey through the work of José Luis Alexanco through seven chapters, which cover the career of this Madrid artist, imbued with permanent research and a universe in constant tension.
The exhibition is a reflection of Alexanco’s conception of movement, the place of origin of his searches and a term that he himself defined as “alteration, restlessness, shock”. The seven chapters evolve chronologically to discover the constant evolution and research of this artist: Movimientos, 1964-1969; Center of Calculation of the University of Madrid-Seminar Automatic Generation of Plastic Forms, 1968-1973 [Infinity and processes]; Interrupted Solitude [And sound], 1971-1980; Exercises, 1970-2019 [In search of new signs]; Tenths, 1998-2018 [Time again]; Constitution, 1978 [Alphabet Alexanco: the empire of signs] and Random Readings, 1977-2019 [Destroy-build]. The exhibition tour converges in the audiovisual work in which he has worked for years and which considers a synthesis of his being as an artist: the film and sound piece “Percursum” (1964-2020), with music by José Tejera Osuna.
