Carmen Calvo. Todo procede de la sinrazón (1969-2016)
In 2016 Alfonso de la Torre curated this retrospective exhibition that featured over seventy pieces by the artist Carmen Calvo dated between 1969 and 2016, among which were paintings, sculptures, drawings and installations. On this occasion Fundació Suñol participated in the exhibition from the Sala Alcalá 31 with the loan of the work Estantería (1990), which the curator includes in what he calls the “ceremony of the object” in the work of the artist. Calvo is one of the most internationally prestigious contemporary Spanish artists; since the 1980s her work has been presented in important exhibitions that have spread Spanish art, starting with New Images from Spain at the Solomon R. Guggenheim in New York (1980), and highlighting her presence at the 1997 Venice Biennale.
