Carmen Calvo
Picasso Museum in Barcelona, Barcelona
04/05/2023 – 04/09/2023
The Picasso Museum in Barcelona is organizing an exhibition in which the artist Carmen Calvo has been invited to dialogue with the collection.
This exhibition will be a magnificent opportunity to review the artistic career of Carmen Calvo, one of the most important visual artists in our country. Through her work, she investigates critically, as well as poetically, the vestiges of the past and the memory of our country. Calvo has held multiple exhibitions and has been the subject of a large number of awards and public commissions. Together with Joan Brossa, she represented Spain at the 1997 Venice Biennale. Her retrospective exhibitions include the one at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (2002) and the one at the Kubo Kutxa room in San Sebastián (2019). She has also created various works for public spaces, such as the ceiling of the staircase in the Benicarló palace, headquarters of Les Corts Valencianes (1994). In 2013 she was awarded the National Prize for Plastic Arts, in 2014 she was named an academic of the San Carlos Royal Academy of Fine Arts and in 2020 she received the Julio González prize awarded by the IVAM.
The Fundació Suñol collaborates in this exhibition through the loan of the work:
