He studied medicine at the University of Barcelona, but dropped out to devote himself to photography. In 1952 he became a member of the Agrupación Fotográfica de Cataluña, where six years later he exhibited his photographs for the first time. Here he met other important photographers such as Oriol Maspons, Ricard Terré and Ramón Masats, with whom he also exhibited. In 1961, upon returning from military service, he wanted to become professionally independent, and set up his first studio in Barcelona. He also worked as a reporter for various Spanish magazines.
His work has a certain neorealist style and is representative of the 1950s and 1960s, at the end of Spain’s economic autarky. This makes his photographs a documentary work of a specific historical moment. He was undoubtedly a figure who helped mark the evolution towards maturity of the photographic medium. The Fundació Suñol has a single untitled work by the artist in its reserve, dating from 1984. His work was exhibited in the foundation’s collective exhibition ‘5th Anniversary. 27 works, 18 authors’ (2011-2012).
