Catalan sculptor, painter and set designer. In 1970 he enrolled to study at the Barcelona Theatre Institute, where he currently resides as a teacher. He also trained in set design at the Barcelona School of Dramatic Art. This relationship with theatre, specifically with set design, gives his works their own stamp. He also works as artistic director in films such as Luces y Sombras by Jaime Camino in 1989, for which he won the Generalitat de Catalunya Cinematography Award for Best Technician for costumes. He also worked for the Teatre Lluire and for the theatre company ‘El Tricicle’.
He stands out for the relationship he achieves in his productions through installations and artistic set designs with the incision of sculpture. He has a marked awareness of the physical presence in space and experiments in his work with the theme of the construction, presentation and representation of space and the scene. Specifically, his sculpture stands out for the accumulation of a large series of found objects that produce surprising effects and a certain surrealist atmosphere. In the 1980s he participated in the artistic movement associated with postal mail that emerged in North America. But his most recent creations tend towards order and geometrization, entering into a relationship with constructivism.
The Fundació Suñol preserves eleven works by the artist. Such as, for example, Paisaje encontrado, (1990-1991) or Los zapatos de Picabia (1988). In 2021, some of his works were exhibited at the Fundació Suñol in the collective exhibition entitled ‘In three acts: Twenty faces and three crowds’.
