Intersecting memories. Collections as a territory for creation Meeting with Asunción Molinos Gordo
01.12.2022, 16:00
We invite you to attend the presentation that Asunción Molinos Gordo will make of her work within the framework of the exhibition Intersecting memories. Collections as a territory for creation. This activity has the collaboration of the Master’s Degree in Artistic Production and Research of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona, forming part of a more extensive seminar that the artist will conduct on December 1 and 2.
Asunción Molinos Gordo (1979, Aranda de Duero, Burgos, Spain) is a researcher and visual artist. She works from a perspective strongly influenced by the methods of disciplines such as anthropology, sociology and cultural studies, focusing her work on the contemporary peasantry.
In her artistic practice she questions the categories that define ‘innovation’ in the current dominant discourse, exploring the different forms of intellectual domination from the urban to the rural. Her understanding of the figure of the small or medium farmer is not limited only to the food producer but also to that of the cultural agent, responsible for both perpetuating traditional knowledge and generating new expertise to face current challenges.
Molinos Gordo’s work makes us reflect on the use of the land, nomadic architecture, peasant strikes, bureaucracy over the territory, the transformation of rural work, biotechnology and international food trade.
