Equipo Crónica. Art history as a pretext Opening
11.04.2024, 18:30
We invite you to the opening of the exhibition Equipo Crónica. Art History as a Pretext that we will celebrate on Thursday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fundació Suñol.
This exhibition project is planned around two paintings that constitute two apparently different axes: La Rendición de Torrejón (1970), from the series “Autopsia de un oficio”, a key work in the Suñol Soler Collection, which reimagines La Rendición de Breda a by Velazquez; and Ha votado (1976), which belongs to the series “The Plot”, alluding to a scene from Franco’s life and the North American painting of Edward Hopper through the codes of Roy Lichtenstein.
These two works are accompanied by around thirty works from private collections and museums in Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid and France, constituting a unique opportunity to discover the Crónica Team’s questioning of historical paintings and official portraits, specifically from the Franco period. as well as towards the roles of the “creator” and the spectator.
