This immersive poetry piece explores the capacity of sound to question us, generate affections, common narratives, shape our identity and collective memory. It is composed of a series of prints where Ginebra Raventós unfolds her poetic universe. The elements that make up the work are intertwined in an inseparable whole where abysses are crossed and explores the word, silence and voice as that ethereal extremity that allows us to touch ourselves.
It starts from the exploration of emptiness and the strangeness left by absence, mourning, that which is not tangible, but which feels very present. The two pillars that support the journey are concepts of neuroscience and psychoacoustics that establish the basis to generate metaphors that lead us to ask ourselves about how we create reality, how we connect with the world, with others and with ourselves. The poet combines transmedia language using the spoken or projected word, sound, acoustic and interactive visual registers, rescuing the poetry of the printed text and offering the viewer an immersive experience where each print is a universe in movement in which to immerse oneself.
The action shares poetic elements with the exhibition To Overflow, To Sustain and A Volcano of Water by Neus Frigola. Metaphors around the liquid fluidity, the voice as an extremity from which to touch or the scenes as a way to navigate a narrative. There is also a strong parallelism in the approach of that which is intimate and emotional, not so much from the intellectual processing but in an incarnated and experiential way.
Ginebra Reventós (Barcelona, 1990) is a poet and sound artist who investigates the expansion of the field of action of poetry. In her field of study she crosses the voice, the word, the collective unconscious, psychoacoustics. In her pieces she unfolds her poetic universe, where voice, action, sound, image, space and text intermingle in an indispensable whole. In 2021 he published the sound book Saturn darrere nostre: el glaç, el got, el buit l’acte verge. He has performed and presented his pieces at Fundació Tàpies Festival Barcelona Poesia, Festival Poesia i+, Festival Eufònic, Antic Teatre, SONAR+D, Hangar, CC Sant Agustí, La Panera, La Casa Encendida (Madrid), Copenhagen Literature Festival, Universitat KUA (Copenhagen), MONOM (Berlin), IRCAM (Paris), Universitat de les Arts de Reykjavík and King’s College (London) among others.
