Pietro Consagra was an Italian sculptor noted for his abstract works and his contribution to the informal art movement. He was born in Mazara del Vallo, Sicily, and developed a sculptural work marked by the search for flat and frontal forms, which break with the traditional three-dimensionality of sculpture.

Consagra was an active member of the Forma 1 group, a collective of Italian artists committed to abstraction and Marxism, and participated in various editions of the Venice Biennale. His work is characterized by a minimalist aesthetic and the use of materials such as iron and bronze, exploring the relationships between shapes, spaces and the viewer’s visual perception.
