Juli González (1876-1942) was a Catalan sculptor and painter, a key figure in the evolution of modern art in Spain. Considered one of the precursors of abstraction, his work was characterized by his search for new expressive forms through the use of iron, welding and other industrial materials. González was one of the first artists to explore working with metals in a sculptural way, making him a leading figure in the use of technology in art. He profoundly influenced the transition to abstract art and was a prominent figure in the avant-garde movement, collaborating with other artists such as Pablo Picasso.
