Juan Genovés was a prominent Spanish painter and sculptor, known for his ability to reflect the deepest aspects of contemporary society and politics in his works. His work is characterized by a strong symbolic charge, mainly using the human figure to express themes such as violence, freedom and historical memory. Genovés was one of the main exponents of social realism in Spain, and throughout his career he experimented with different styles, from informalism to pop-art. His work, full of emotional tensions, managed to capture the attention of the public both in Spain and internationally, being a reference for art committed to his time.
