José Noguero

Abbau I, 2007

Barbastro (Osca), 1969

Spanish sculptor and photographer. He studied painting and sculpture at the Escula Massana, completing his training in Bristol and Amsterdam. In 2005 he spent time at the Hindu sculpture workshop of Lingaraj Maharana in Orissa (India), as well as doing research stays in Rome and Naples. His presence at the fifteenth Salon de los XVI is noteworthy.

His work contains an ephemeral presence as well as a background of rebirth that invites us to think that from what has been destroyed a new figuration can be created. The incorporation of photography as an expressive and complementary medium, as well as a taste for scenography, are key elements to understanding his artistic universe. His works stand out for the provisional nature of the moment and the poetic density of the artist’s intention.

The Suñol Soler Collection preserves more than a dozen of his works. The Suñol Foundation dedicated a solo exhibition to him in 2008 entitled ‘Act 3: José Noguero, Scenography’.
