Ingeborg Hermine “Inge” Morath was an Austrian-born American photographer known for her empathetic and subtle gaze. In 1953, she began working for the Magnum Agency, one of the most prestigious in the world, and became a professional photographer for the agency in 1955. She covered topics such as war, politics and everyday life, capturing human moments with great sensitivity. Morath was recognized for her ability to connect with the people she portrayed and received several international awards. Her work remains an important reference in documentary photography.
